NOTA OFICIAL DA ALIANÇA NACIONAL LGBTI+

Hoje, 18 de fevereiro do corrente ano, a Aliança Nacional LGBTI+ se reuniu com chefes do “Match Group”, empresa detentora da propriedade do aplicativo Tinder, em resposta ao ofício encaminhado no qual foram relatados casos de banimento de pessoas trans e travestis da plataforma sem quaisquer justificativas.

Após o envio do nosso ofício, o convite do Match Group para participar dessa reunião internacional foi recebido por todos nós com grande alegria, pois demonstra que nossa luta tão árdua segue rendendo frutos.

Participaram pelo Match Group, empresa proprietária do Tinder, o Mark Buse – Chefe de Relações Governamentais e Políticas Globais, a Tracey Breeden – Chefe de Segurança e Advocacy Social, o Johnathon Purcell – Diretor de Operações de Confiança e Segurança, e o advogado Sam Kitchens – Conselheiro Jurídico Corporativo.

Na oportunidade da referida reunião, foram trazidas à baila histórias concretas de mulheres trans que vivenciaram tal situação transfóbica do banimento, e assim discutirmos possibilidades de soluções para que não mais ocorram situações semelhantes. A reunião durou em torno de uma hora e meia.

Terminamos este primeiro encontro com a promessa de que não seria o último, e que a partir deste diálogo inicial poderíamos caminhar para a uma parceria, a fim de se construírem estratégias de solução de banimento de pessoas trans no aplicativo, bem como de conscientização e promoção do respeito à dignidade da pessoa humana. Propusemos a realização de campanhas conjuntas para a mitigação da LGBTI+fobia, e principalmente a transfobia. Também, as pessoas trans que se sentirem excluídas do Tinder serão incentivadas a formalizar o acontecido na Central Nacional de Denúncias LGBTI+ https://bit.ly/3mN8jOA, para que os casos sejam estudados e haja soluções.

Pela Aliança Nacional LGBTI+, estiveram presentes o Toni Reis – Diretor Presidente, a Rafaelly Wiest – Diretora Administrativa, a Alessandra Ramos – Coordenadora da Área de Mulheres Trans, o Dr. Marcel Jeronymo – Coordenador da Área Jurídica, a Dra. Amanda Souto Baliza – Coordenadora da Central Nacional de Denúncias LGBTI+, a Layza Lima – Assessora de Mobilização, Integração e Interação, e o Gregory Rodrigues Roque de Souza – Coordenador da Área de Comunicação.

A busca pela construção de alianças capazes de transformar a sociedade é o cerne de nossa luta. Ações que permeiam esta busca devem ultrapassar as barreiras das manifestações escritas, sendo essencial a tentativa de se encontrar soluções concretas que contemplem a garantia dos direitos humanos e da cidadania LGBTI+, promovendo o enfrentamento a toda e qualquer sorte de LGBTIfobia.

BUILDING BRIDGES BETWEEN TINDER AND THE NATIONAL LGBTI+ ALLIANCE

OFFICAL STATEMENT OF THE BRAZILIAN NATIONAL LGBTI+ ALLIANCE

Today, February 18th 2021, the National LGBTI+ Alliance met with heads of the Match Group, the company that owns the Tinder application, in response to a letter Alliance sent to them reporting cases of transgender and transvestite persons being banned from the platform without any justification.

After sending our letter, the invitation made by the Match Group to participate in this international meeting was received by all of us with great joy, because it demonstrates that our hard fight keeps bearing fruit.

Mark Buse – Head of Global Government Relations and Policy, Tracey Breeden – Head of Safety and Social Advocacy, Johnathon Purcell, Director of Trust and Safety Operations, and lawyer Sam Kitchens – Corporate Litigation Counsel, participated on behalf of Match Group, the company that owns Tinder.

The meeting brought up concrete stories of trans women who had experienced this transphobic situation of being banned, and discussed possible solutions so that similar situations would no longer occur. The meeting lasted about an hour and a half.

We ended this first meeting with the promise that it would not be the last, and that from this initial dialogue we could move towards a partnership, in order to build strategies to solve the banning of trans people in the application, as well as to raise awareness and promote respect for human dignity. We proposed the holding of joint campaigns for the mitigation of LGBTI+phobia, and especially transphobia. Also, trans people who feel excluded from Tinder will be encouraged to formalize what happened at the National Center for LGBTI+ Complaints https://bit.ly/3mN8jOA, so that the cases can be studied and solutions can be found.

The search for the construction of alliances capable of transforming society is the core of our struggle. Actions that permeate this search should go beyond the barriers of written manifestations, whereby the attempt to find concrete solutions to ensure the guarantee of human rights and LGBTI+ citizenship is essential, promoting confrontation against any kind of LGBTIphobia.
